IMPACT WINDOWS INSTALLATION

Astor Impact Windows typically use full-time employees rather than subcontractors to perform its window installations. We constantly recruit and train the best carpenters to successfully perform our projects. We fully apply our expertise and knowledge from our construction company to our window business. Our employees are trained and properly insured to perform opening alterations, such as reinforcing concrete frames, building new frames or simply reconfiguring existing frames.

TIME FRAMES, WHAT TO EXPECT?

The time it takes to complete a project varies since every job has different characteristics and specifications. However, a typical three-bedroom, two-bathroom house with 16 windows and 4 doors might take between 4 to 7 business days to complete.

HOW INTRUSIVE OR INVOLVED ARE THE INSTALLATIONS?

For straight-forward replacements in which no alterations to the openings are required, the extend of the work most probably will involve removing the existing stucco around the perimeter of the window (siding), uninstalling the existing security system (done by client's alarm contractor), putting down blinds (performed by the client), and in some cases, removing the window sills. Typically, existing windows can be pulled out as a unit. In some cases, however, older windows may have to be disassembled piece by piece. Expect a significant amount of dust to be generated as a result of drilling the holes to properly anchor the new windows. Unfortunately, there is no way around the dust issue. Also, it is common practice to remove the exterior stucco if the window is embedded into the stucco. Unless explicitly quoted or included in our contracts, client must assume that stucco restoration is NOT included in scope of work. After the window placement has been performed, an Astor Impact Windows representative can assess the stucco restoration labor and produce an estimate for the client.

BUILDING INSPECTIONS

Every window/door installation requires inspection by an inspector of the corresponding municipality. The inspector makes sure that the windows and doors are installed in accordance with the Florida Building Code and the Notice of Product Acceptance of the windows. Astor Windows and Doors is responsible for coordinating and passing these inspections.
